Yes, I have an iPhone. Yes, I have RC airplanes. But put the two together? Never!

However, these guys did and I think they just created a new ad for Apple.

Now this is cool.  You know I’m a big fan of emulators, and this is one of the more interesting ones.  Who wouldn’t want a retro-Mac on their iPhone.

The catch?  You need to jailbreak it.  I’m tempted…

I was starting to write up a post comparing web-based photo editors, but it appears that CNET has beaten me to it!  (Thanks to the awesome Lifehacker site for this link)

I do like using GIMP, but it’s still not a ‘real’ Mac app.  And I know there are some good native apps, but nothing that’s really appealed to me yet (a combo of features and ease that some, dare I say it, Windows apps have — I often use PhotoFiltre in Windows under Parallels.).   By the way, I am talking free apps here (most of the web-based editors are free, but a couple of them charge for their services…).

Anyhoo, you should be able to find an editor you like in here somewhere.

One of the more talked about games for the iPhone these days is Hellfire by Handmark.  Well right now, you can get it on sale for $2.99 (regularly $4.99).  Head on over to the iTunes AppStore and pick yourself up a copy if you haven’t yet.  You’ll be glad you did (if you’re into those kind of games — you know, flying a combat helicopter, blasting bad guys — that kind of stuff…). I would provide a direct link, but I’m not sure how to do that.  I’ll figure that out as soon as I post this and maybe update the post in a little while.

At this very minute, I’m downloading the new 2.2.1 firmware for my iPhone 3G.  I’ll let you know if anything goes amiss!

Being a Mac-addict and it being Super Bowl weekend, I thought I’d point out that 25 years ago during the Super Bowl, then Apple Computer aired a commercial for its new computer, the Macintosh. And to think, some people thought Apple would not survive five years…

I have recently come across not one, but two different apps for Windows that purports to run multiple anti-malware applications on your system to help flush out any baddies that might be lurking on there.

Are you feeling gipped?  I am!  Where’s the same app for the Mac?  Now I can see why the PC folks are always saying the Mac just doesn’t have all the apps Windows does.  Sheesh…

I occasionally come across a post by someone who’s switched from a PC to Mac, and they generally have some good advice for those of us who may be more familiar with the PC than the Mac.  I thought this post is one of those.  It’s a little bit older, but the advice still certainly applies.

As I come across more, I will add them under a new “Switching” category.

Actually, when you’re ready to delete an app, you usually want to delete not only the app, but associated files as well.  Normally, if you just drag the app to the trash, you leave some stuff behind.  That’s where certain utilities by some enterprising developers come in handy to help you out.  One of these is AppTrap.  It’s the first uninstaller app I’ve put on my Mac, but so far, it seems to be working just fine.

I’m assuming that everyone who updated their iPhone to 2.0 (or bought the new iPhone 3G) has updated to 2.1, or better yet, 2.2.

One of the best things about the 2.1 update from way back in September of this past year has been what I haven’t had to do very much at all… And that is, drumroll please, reset the darn thing!  I mean, it used to be a weekly, if not almost daily, occurrence.  Since I updated to 2.1, I noticed I haven’t had to do it much at all.  Not only that, but now that it’s cold, I don’t have my hand warmer anymore either!  I don’t know about yours, but mine used to get pretty dang hot sometimes.  In addition, the phone part of the iPhone has been working better as well.  Guess it’s the firmware Apple should have released it with, but hey, all’s well — or at least a whole lot better — now.

Anyway, the iPhone’s really been a pleasure to use these past three months or so.  Hope yours has been as well!  Here’s looking forward to an even better year!  (Just have to stay away from that dang app store! )
