A couple of updates

August 2, 2008 Leave a comment

I was wondering when OS X would get around to notifying me about these updates, since news of their existence has been making the rounds already.

Info about the Security Update can be found here.

The new iTunes is here.

iTunes 7.7 now available!

July 10, 2008 Leave a comment

As you’ve probably seen all over the internet, iTunes 7.7 is available to download.

You can download it for your Mac or PC right here.  And although it wasn’t available earlier today, there is now a nice, big link to the AppStore!  Those of you with iPhones, have fun.  I’m hoping to join you tomorrow!

Updated and still kickin’!

Well, I installed the updates mentioned in this post (Security Update 2007-007, Airport Extreme Update, Safari update for beta 3.0.3).  In the meantime, it looks like Apple released an update for iTunes – 7.3.2.  So I installed that as well.  As you can see, I’m still blogging, so my MBP must’ve come back up!

Being a heavy-duty user of both of these, I thought I’d post these here as well…

Oh, and the same updates are available for Windows users as well. 😉

The iPod & iTunes

May 29, 2007 Leave a comment

Last Christmas, I received an iPod Nano. Of course, at that point all I had was a Windows computer, so I got a Windows formatted iPod. Everything was working fine, but now that I have a Mac as my main machine, why should I keep my music on the PC? Why indeed!

At this point, any half-way intelligent human would turn to the fount of all knowledge, Google, for help in doing this. As it turns out, I’m only 49% intelligent. Maybe 48%…

I decided I was going to do this myself. After all, how hard could it be? Well, to make a long story short, I got the Mac to see my PC’s iTunes library and added all the music in. Then I shared my playlists and copied those over. It turns out that there are much better ways of getting my music over. However, I was able to figure it out. Then I hooked up the iPod to the Mac and had it reformat the iPod to Mac and then synced it (and crossed my fingers more than once). Voila! My iPod has all my music and all is well.

Had I been 51% intelligent, I would have Googled for something along the lines of “transfer itunes library from windows to mac” and would have come up with some awesome ways of doing exactly what I was looking to do. One was from Apple itself, telling you how to move your music over using the iPod.

Just remember:  Google is your friend.  Use it.  I’m going to from now on.
