With my head up in the clouds…

My hard drive head, that is.

With having to do work at home sometimes and studying at work sometimes and both while traveling, it was becoming harder and harder to keep data synced up between computers, even with a USB stick.  So I thought I would look into some online file storage options.  After doing a little investigating, I settled on checking out three of the many options in the Wikipedia article: DropBox, Live Mesh (beta), and ZumoDrive.

Web-based Photo editors

I was starting to write up a post comparing web-based photo editors, but it appears that CNET has beaten me to it!  (Thanks to the awesome Lifehacker site for this link)

I do like using GIMP, but it’s still not a ‘real’ Mac app.  And I know there are some good native apps, but nothing that’s really appealed to me yet (a combo of features and ease that some, dare I say it, Windows apps have — I often use PhotoFiltre in Windows under Parallels.).   By the way, I am talking free apps here (most of the web-based editors are free, but a couple of them charge for their services…).

Anyhoo, you should be able to find an editor you like in here somewhere. 🙂

Adobe Reader 9 for Mac released

From our friends at TUAW comes word that Adobe Reader 9 for Mac is now avaiilable.

I don’t know about you, but I have never had the need to install Adobe’s Reader since Apple’s Preview does a fine job for me.

Microsoft Messenger 7.01 update

Normally, I’m an Adium kind of guy, but I thought I’d try MS Messenger when 7.0 came out a little while ago.  Well, now they’ve updated it to 7.01 and you can get it here.  Thanks to MacNN for the heads-up.

When I started up Adium today, it told me it had an update to 1.2, so update I did.  If you want to know what’s changed, be sure to visit this page.  Once you decide this is something you want, go here to download.

DivX Pro for Mac
